This 2-day lecture and lab expands on fundamentals and foundational concepts of canine and feline dentistry. Participants are encouraged to have completed the fundamental course or an equivalent level of weekend seminar in order to maximize learning. A basic understanding of dental anatomy, nomenclature, and disease processes is necessary to gain the most from this course. Lectures use clinical images and intraoral radiographs to expand clinical skills and knowledge. Treatment options beyond extraction and “wait and see” will be discussed in this course. Periodontal treatments beyond the dental prophylaxis will be presented. Treatments such as bonded sealants for uncomplicated fractured teeth will be introduced. Surgical extractions and surgical extraction complications and management will be instructed. The different types of oral odontogenic and malignant tumors with current nomenclature and treatment options will be presented. Including surgical treatment options that may be considered in primary practice. The image-based lectures will be supported with comprehensive notes so that the participants can be engaged with the lectures and clinical images and focus on learning.
