Unfortunately, veterinary schools do not teach advanced dental training to their students.  Students are lucky to receive just a few hours of dental education and they go into the workforce with marginal training. It happened to me as well.

This seminar allows the practitioner to get a comprehensive overview of canine dental anatomy and pathology, as well as identifying radiographic pathology.  The hands-on laboratory will give the DVM proper training in radiographic positioning, regional pain management, periodontal surgery, and complicated surgical extractions.  Once completed, the DVM will have the necessary training to address the vast majority of oral pathology in the dog.

Topics reviewed are:
  • Review of normal canine anatomy
  • Identify abnormal canine oral pathology
  • Regional nerve blocks as well as understand all facets of oral pain management
  • Perform and interpret dental radiographs (full mouth)
  • Perform complicated extractions
