This intensive 3-day course is ideal for residents preparing for the AVDC or EVDC practical examination and veterinarians that want to get to the next level of veterinary dental expertise. Participants will be shown how to perform selected advanced procedures in periodontal surgery, restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, orthodontics, and retrograde endodontics:

  • Lengthen the crown of canine teeth with apically positioned flaps (envelope and summer dress techniques)
  • Perform open periodontal debridement (including alveoloplasty and root planing) at incisor teeth
  • Create laterally positioned flaps for repair of gingival clefts at canine teeth
  • Perform guided tissue regeneration (GTR) at canine teeth with bone graft and membrane
  • Perform subgingival restorations (following flap creation) at carnassial teeth
  • Perform supragingival restorations at canine teeth and occlusal surface restorations at molar teeth
  • Create inclined planes and coronal extensions for movement of linguoverted mandibular canine teeth
  • Utilize buttons, hooks, or other attachments and elastic chains for movement of mesioverted maxillary canine teeth
  • Use anatomical landmarks to accurately perform mucosal and skin approaches for access to root apices
  • Perform bone fenestration, apicoectomy, defect preparation, and retrograde filling
  • Prepare and obtain impressions for full and partial (three-quarter) prosthodontic crowns at canine teeth
  • Prepare and obtain impressions for full prosthodontic crowns at carnassial teeth
  • Obtain bite registrations with wax and heavy body materials
